More Duluth

The next day we took in two famous sights of the North Shore. Gooseberry Falls and The Split Rock Light House.

Maddie and Kristi playing in the water.....

At the light house the guides try to discourage you from going down to put your feet in the Great Lake.....They tell you that it is 173 steps down.....please, who do they think they are dealing with......Maddie Kate and I went down......

and we got to take these great trick pictures.....OK I know they would have been better if Flemming had walked down the stairs....but he didn't

A Trip to Duluth

How have we lived in MN for so long and never taken a trip to Duluth you ask????? Well now we have, and we packed it all in in a 36 Hr trip. It was last min, but a lot of fun. We spent some time Friday afternoon at the waterfront in down town Duluth....

Maddie practiced her walk and pose....what do you think

Kristi got to play in the fountains....Good thing I didn't fall

Then we stopped for Ice Cream...before dinner...it's vacation.......

And then putt putt at the Hotel

And swimming....we had a room with a view....a view of the water park....Flemming is standing in the room....Abby knocked on the window....Funny....

And Crafts.....man all in just the first afternoon........

Why Travel When You Live In MN

Ok, I am not serious....I would love to have a break, but it is not in the cards for this summer, so.....Yesterday we got to play on my girlfriends lake. A lot of people live on a lake here in this land of 10,000. So we had a couple of hours and tada instant vacation type pictures... Thanks Kristen, we had a blast.

Whatthe ........

This is what I woke up to this morning outside my house. ( I think that is a jack hammer in his hand....It shook the whole house) Question?
  1. What are they doing?
  2. Did they really have to start so early in the morning?
  3. Does the city have any kind of common courtesy to at least ask before they start ripping up the road right in front of your house? ( We had some idea that it was coming because they spray painted our yard last week....power lines and such)
  4. I am so glad it was not yesterday when I had Flemming's Car parked in that spot . I am pretty sure they would have just thrown dirt right on top of it and kept on going?
Oh well, such is life. Summer is roadwork season in this state, I guess it good be worse....my friend Emily had her whole street taken out for a week or so, you almost had to have a 4-wheel drive to get through all the mud to get to her house.

Maddie and Abby are in a JAM

(Not really) But they made Jam Yesterday. Strawberry Freezer Jam. What I thought was great about this accomplishment....
  1. They did it all on their own (besides the buying of the supplies)
  2. Maddie learned this skill from someone other than me. Her Farmor taught her last summer. I love it when my children can learn good things from outside influences, especially a loving grandparent.
  3. They enjoyed working together as sisters.....(unfortunately that does not always happen, so it was so sweet to see)
  4. The Jam is going to be delicious......
